
The Center for Gulf Studies at Qatar University organized the 8th annual international interdisciplinary conference entitled “Gulf Families:Continuity and Change” in collaboration with the Doha International Family Institute
It was organized in collaboration with The United Nations (UN) Programme on the Family, Division for Social Policy and Development, Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and was held from April 14-16, 2012 in Doha, Qatar. Experts presented their opinions and policy recommendations for strengthening family policymaking, integrating a family perspective into the implementation of social protection policies, and fostering intergenerational solidarity. Its primary objective was to consider the concept of family policy, analyze how family and family policy are inter-related to social protection and intergenerational issues, and provide recommendations on using public policy and, in particular, family policy to support family well-being by strengthening social protection and intergenerational solidarity.

The Doha International Family Institute (DIFI) has launched the OSRA research grant in its sixth cycle which is a research grant on Arab families and family policy related issues.
