DIFI Participates at the 73rd session of the CEDAW Committee

Date: July 13, 2019

The Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), a member of Qatar Foundation, has attended the 73rd session of the Committee on the Convention of Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), which is currently taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, and set to conclude on July 19.

DIFI’s participation came in the first two days of the conference. On the first day, DIFI participated in a closed NGO meeting, while, on the second day, DIFI attended a discussion of the second periodic report of Qatar on the implementation of CEDAW involving 23 independent committee experts from around the world.

In March 2019, DIFI organized an event titled ‘Gender-Responsive Social Protection for Adolescent Girls to Enable Aspirations and Reach the SDGs in the Arab Region’ at the 63rd Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York. Therefore, our participation at the 73rd session of the CEDAW Committee comes to reaffirm our commitment to support women issues
