The Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), organized a seminar on “Family Policies and Sustainable Development” in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO on Friday, 27 September 2019 in Paris. This collaboration comes as part of the Institute’s efforts to support and contribute to family issues at all levels making them top priority of policy makers’ agenda locally, regionally and internationally.
Main Objective:
To highlight the centrality of family policies in achieving the objectives of sustainable development and to emphasize the priority of family approach in the design of development policies and programs.
Outcomes:
The main outcome of the seminar is to highlight the importance of family policies in achieving sustainable development by focusing on three themes (fertility policies, work-family balance policies, and marital rehabilitation programs). Concrete outcomes are the participants’ papers, as well as a summary report summarizing the discussions and recommendations.
