Family, Millenium Development Goals, and AIDS in the Middle East

It was organized by DIFI, the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) from November 1-2, 2011 in Doha, Qatar. The symposium aimed to address the complex linkages between Arab families, Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s), and the evolution of the AIDS epidemic in Middle Eastern countries. Nearly one hundred participants attended it from the Middle East, Europe, North America and Africa including senior experts from regional governments and senior experts from the United Nations (UN) System, the League of Arab States, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), IDB, IGAD, civil society and academicians.
