DIFI awarded the 2018 IFFD Family Awards with Hungary

The International Board of the International Federation for Family Development, an NGO with general consultative status with the ECOSOC at the United Nations, has awarded its 2018 its Family Awards to the Doha International Family Institute (DIFI) and the National Association of Large Families of Hungary (NOE in Hungarian).

IFFD Awards are presented to the person or entity distinguished by the promotion of family perspective policies during the past year and for best appreciation and promotion of family values around the world.

Ignacio Socias, director of International Relations at IFFD, explained that DIFI was selected for this award because it is global policy and advocacy institute working to provide evidence and

raise awareness in the regional and international levels. He added that “DIFI has also contributed to advocate on family issues by the organization of several International Conferences and through its special consultative status with United Nations Economic and Social Council, with very specific recommendations to integrate a family perspective into national policymaking.”

The Awards were presented by the President of IFFD during the IFFD Annual Briefing held at United Nations Headquarters in New York. Ms. Noor Al Malki Al Jehani, Executive Director of DIFI received the Award and thanked IFFD for this recognition of DIFI’s work and for its leading role in promoting family perspective. Ms. Noor added “We are proud to receive this Award which recognizes the work done by NGOs to strengthen families around the world. DIFI is committed to make families a priority for policy makers through our advocacy and outreach at the national, regional and international level.”

The IFFD Family Awards Ceremony has been celebrated for the last six years to recognize persons or entities who have shown the best appreciation and promotion of family values around the world. Previous awardees were, among others, the governments of Malta and Malaysia, and the United Nations High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations. This year, the Awards will be presented on special events during the next Commission for Social Development at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The International Federation for Family Development is a nongovernmental, independent, and non-profit federation. Its primary mission is to support families through training. DIFI is a global policy and advocacy Institute working to advance knowledge on Arab families, through research, and promote evidence-based polices at the national, regional and international levels. The Institute has special consultative status with United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
