Research to Advance Family Policies

Divisions

Family Research Division

The Family Research Division supports the development of evidence-based policies and programs that promote family well-being through research. The Division conducts and supports research that is focused, high-quality, credible, and has an impact. The Division also works to build an international network of researchers on the Arab family.

DIFI Research Priorities:
  • Marriage/family structure.
  • Women’s issues.
  • Fertility and demography.
  • Parenting.
  • Child and family safety.


Family Policy Division

The Family Policy Division strives to raise awareness of family issues and to promote coordination of family policies with local, regional, and international partners. The Division works with the United Nations and other agencies in order to strengthen political commitments set out in the Doha Declaration on the Family.

Social Outreach Division

The Social Outreach Division focuses on forming linkages with a range of diverse stakeholders invested in positive change for families, building that network over time, and disseminating research findings in meaningful ways to the local and regional stakeholder community.

About DIFI

The Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), formerly known as Doha International Institute for Family Studies and Development (DIIFSD), was established by Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development in 2006. The Institute has special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNECOSOC).
